Date: 30th Sep 2020

Time: 7.30pm IST - 9.00 PM (14:00 - 15:30 UTC)

This is an online meetup.

Today 38% of the web uses WordPress. This number has been steadily increasing which is a perfect opportunity for the community to come together and translate the software into multiple languages so non-native English users can take advantage of this feature and build their website and access opportunities from having an online presence.

From 27 September to 4 October 2020 inclusive, we are having a week-long celebration of translating WordPress. It coincides World Translation day, which falls on 30 September.

On this day the WordPress Mumbai community is coordinating with other Indian WordPress communities and wider and organising a mini-event.

We will be dividing this meetup into three sessions:

Session 1: 6:30 pm - 7.00pm IST (13:00 – 13:30 UTC)
International marketer Maja Loncar, joined by a panel of new and experienced contributors, will share their experiences of being a translator. This will be held on Zoom. Book on the WPMumbai Meetup page – if you have signed up for the 14:00 talk, you will be automatically registered for this discussion, too.

There will be an optional Kahoot game in-between the two talks.

Session 2: 7.30pm IST (14:00 UTC)
A 30 min talk by cross-cultural communications trainer and experienced international contributor to the project, Abha Thakor. She will talk about the benefits of translating WordPress into your local language. This will also be available to some of the other countries involved in the event, so book your ticket as soon as you can.

Session 3: 8.00pm IST (14:30UTC)
Panel Discussion with local and international WordPress contributors sharing their experience of taking part in translating.

Come and join us for an interactive and fun session.

PLEASE NOTE: Zoom links will be shared with registered participants an hour before the meetup.
