Converting a plugin into a Freemium product / Invoicing and You

== How I converted an orphaned WordPress plugin into a Freemium product ==

In this talk, Radio Station by netmix® founder will walk through the steps of taking over an orphaned plugin and converting it into a freemium product. Tony has always had a deep affection for radio and streaming media. He's been a nightclub DJ and on-air show host over the years. With a passion for all things radio-like, when he saw the plugin had not been updated, he contacted the developer to inquire and was offered the opportunity to inherit Radio Station, but he didn't yet have a plan. With entrepreneurship and startups central to Tony's three-decade career in digital, he knew if he took it over he could make it work, so he agreed. Two years and three months later, Radio Station PRO was launched. Tony will share the story of how he went from managing web development projects to inheriting a WordPress plugin and, with no experience in the plugin economy, took Radio Station from free to freemium doubling the free install based and setting up Radio Station as the best WordPress plugin for the broadcast and streaming radio industry.

Tony Zeoli: Entrepreneur, innovator, digital strategist, and web product developer best describes the three-decade Internet industry career of Radio Station by netmix® founder, Tony Zeoli. His digital career started in the early days of the World Wide Web when he launched his first startup, Netmix.com. After Netmix was acquired in 2001, Tony spent the next 19-years working with startups, entrepreneurs, or corporations in product development and project management. In 2003, he began to leverage WordPress in his work and stayed with the platform exclusively through today. Tony has founded two WordPress Meetups - WordPress Westchester and WordPress Chapel Hill. He's also presented at WordCamps in NYC, Hampton Roads, VA, and Raleigh and Asheville, NC. In 2009, Tony launched Digital Strategy Works, a WordPress web development company focused on WordPress marketing and eCommerce sites with integrated digital marketing components for clients in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. in 2019, Tony inherited the orphaned WordPress plugin, Radio Station, which gives audio broadcasters of any type publishing tools to power a broadcast or streaming radio station website with a show schedule and associated dynamic pages and metadata. He has since converted the plugin to a "freemium" offering with his development partner, Tony Hayes (Australia), and launched a PRO version in July of 2021. After dot com 1.0 implosion in the latter half of 2000, Netmix.com was returned to Tony's ownership control and he's dusted off the domain from archive statues and now employs is as a companion radio station directory, which lists participating stations who have installed and activated the Radio Station plugin.
