Hooks and Filters are one of the most powerful tools in your WordPress arsenal. They allow you to modify WordPress core (and many themes and plugins), without touching the main code. There are hundreds of Hooks and over a thousand Filters in WordPress, allowing you to do some fun things like modify your login page, or add code to your header or footer.

In this session, we'll cover some of the most popular uses of hooks and actions, with some juicy examples. Finally we'll talk about how you can create your own hooks for your plugins and themes enabling other developers to hook into your creations.

Jack Reichert (http://www.jackreichert.com/) dreams in CSS3 gradients. He built his first professional website in 1999 and has been working with WordPress since "Stan Getz" (2.2.1). Jack jumped in as a full-time Front-end Developer while completing his degree in philosophy. At Jack's most recent major project he was the lead Front-end Developer for BlackBerry Travel. Currently he's the Lead Front-end Developer for a financial organization in midtown.

Sara (http://www.sararosso.com/) Rosso (http://www.sararosso.com/) is a writer, photographer, technology lover, and business & digital strategist. She's worked in technology since 1996 for companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Ogilvy, and she currently works for Automattic (WordPress.com & more) as VIP Global Services Manager. Originally from California, she has been living in Italy since 2003 (she's the WP Meetup organizer in Milan), and has been using WordPress since 2006!
