A WordPress talk, a user testing workshop & pizza

Details

Come along to another fun evening filled with WordPress and pizza at Eagle Labs Brighton.

Everyone is welcome!

Whether you're brand new to WordPress (https://wordpress.org/), very experienced, or somewhere in between – we'd be very happy to welcome you to this meetup.

This month we've lined up a talk and a workshop – so there'll be lots of opportunity to learn something new.

Plus, thanks to the very kind people at Pragmatic (https://www.pragmatic-web.co.uk/), there'll be delicious pizza and drinks throughout the evening.

The talk:

Building an audience with WordPress – Livia Farkas

Compared to other platforms such as Facebook (where you have to pay to reach your audience), WordPress puts much more control in your hands. WordPress integrates with lots of great list building software and you can get a tonne of data about audience behaviour. In this talk, Livia will discuss how she built a list of over 37,000 people and sold over 2,200 online courses using the following tools:

• MailChimp for list building and delivering content

• Zippy Courses – a membership plugin for online courses

• Other list building plugins, including PopUpAlly and Magic Action Box

The workshop:

User testing workshop

This will be an informative and hands-on workshop, suitable for people of all WordPress skill levels...

It's impossible to know how real people will use your website until you observe them in action. That's where user testing comes in.

During the first part of the workshop, we'll run through how you can plan and carry out user testing on a website.

We'll then invite attendees to put forward websites for others to test. Together we'll analyse how people use these sites and discuss UX (user experience) improvements.

It's set to be an interesting experiment for everyone involved! So please bring along your laptop or other devices (phone, tablet etc) so you can take part.

We look forward to welcoming you (and the pizza) on Monday 24th October.

Other info:

The venue is accessible for wheelchair users with an accessible toilet (this is inside the Makers Space by the big screen – do ask if you can't find it).

There will be alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available.

Please let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements when you RSVP.
