There's a long history to text markup languages, and Tony Ibbs has agreed to come and talk to Cambridge Write The Docs about it.

Tony will talk us through nroff/troff, SGML, HTML, Docbook, TeX and LaTeX, setext, reStructuredText, markdown and AsciiDoc.

He will probably curse briefly about wiki markups.

Tony, also known as Tibs, runs the Cambridge Python User Group meetup and presented a version of this talk at PyCon UK last year.
