WTD Ottawa Shopify Meetup

Write the Docs Ottawa and Shopify are pleased to invite you for an evening of socialization, networking, and talks. Come out to meet your fellow documentation enthusiasts, including developers, technical writers, customer support, and any one else who cares about supporting great experiences with software.

At this meetup, Rob Mousseau and Lina Tovbis will share their insights into fostering empathy for merchant experience during documentation authorship. We will also have the pleasure of a presentation from a non-Shopifolk member of the WTD community :) (TBD)

“Your Call is Important to Us, Please Enjoy This 40-minute Flute Solo: Connecting Support with UX” by Rob Mousseau and Lina Tovbis

In a support culture focused on "effortless experience," it is critical to understand how and why content and design might frustrate users, leading to potentially avoidable support contacts. In this talk, we will explain how we leverage existing UX resources, such as merchant survey results and user feedback collected from self-help support content, to foster empathy for merchant experience during documentation authorship.

We will also explain new projects we initiated for support, including developing merchant personas and support experience journey maps, as well as A/B testing to apply UX best practices to Help Center content. We will discuss how these projects help us improve support content to meet customer needs while prioritizing UX and support mindsets during content revision and development.
