EVENT DESCRIPTION
Write the Docs Ottawa and Shopify are pleased to invite you for an evening of socialization, networking, and talks. For this edition we are very pleased to have Alexandra Gifuni, Technical Content Manager at the ShareGate division of GSoft, as our special guest ! Technical Content Manager by day, avid reader by night — Alexandra likes her writing concise but her literature verbose (we all need balance). Alexandra has been in the field for seven years, helping to create and maintain technical content that empowers customers to find answers to their questions through self-service.

Talk Synopsis:
Docs and UX: It’s a collaboration, not a competition - A look at how technical documentation and UX are stronger together. As Technical Documentarians, many of us have heard a version of this hypothesis; UX (user experience) will become so intuitive that technical documentation will be made obsolete. Why would you need manuals when the product is so user-friendly, right? This argument is not a new one, and it is difficult to ignore. However the facts don’t seem to match the hypothesis. In this talk I’ll look into how my experience in the field has shown me that UX and technical docs are ultimately stronger together.
