What we're about
Who We Are:
With so many wonderful groups for writers in the Asheville area, the Write and Thrive for Fiction Writers has a unique approach. We cater to active fiction writers with at least one work in progress. If you consistently spend time working on your short stories or novel, and you want to talk specifics with others who do too, then this group is for you. Writers of all types of fiction are welcome.
We roughly divide our 90 minute meeting into as many parts as there are participants, and then let each writer have the floor. We love to hear a short excerpt of your work in progress (or most recent work, if you are in between things). We are not a critique group. We want to hear what you are creating, how it is going, and what problems have you stymied. We also love to hear about what is going well. Then we enjoy giving our suggestions and encouragement.
We meet at Hopey coffee shop on Highway 70 just west of Black Mountain. There is ample parking, comfortable seating and inexpensive food and drinks. There is no charge to attend, but we'd like you to buy at least a beverage from the cafe. Because of our format, we ask you be on time and not bring guests. Note that Google maps and some phone apps will direct you to Old Highway 70, which is wrong. Make sure you are going to 3018 US-70.
Other than that, good manners, an open mind, and a supportive attitude are expected. Come enjoy the companionship of those dedicated to the same vexing and solitary art that you are.
