Introducing information architecture (IA)
If you’ve ever organised a bookshelf, or your spice rack, you’ve done information architecture. IA is the science and the art of organising information in a way that makes sense to other people.
IA has applications to websites, large documents - basically any field with complex, interrelated information.
In this meetup, Matt Fenwick (content strategist and information architect) will share the foundational principles of IA and show how you can apply them in your work. In particular, we’ll run through card-sorting - one of the building blocks of IA.
About the speaker
Matt Fenwick runs True North Content, a content strategy & writing consultancy based in Canberra. They create content with value and help other people to do likewise.
Matt loves working on big and hairy content projects, like rewriting the travel advisories for most of the countries in the world, or building content strategies for government departments in the thick of digital transformation.
True North Content does content strategy, content design, information architecture, copywriting, and sometimes all of them at once.
