Please let us know by April 24th if you have anything to announce or share with the group. It can be on anything loosely related to documentation, open-source software/community, your work, Write the Docs, job openings, job searches, etc.

Regardless, we'll set aside 10-20 minutes at the start of the meeting to share news and chat informally about what's going on with everyone.

Let us know via Slack (via the #socal channel) or privately message Marcy, Jen, Liz, Andrea (@marcyh, @dangerjen, @liz_mcfarland, or @andrea).

Alternatively, leave a comment on this Meetup page and one of us will get back to you.

We're having a presentation by Justin Lui (Creative Technologist at Sparks)!

Justin Lui is a designer and artist pursuing the integration of responsive media in the physical world. He includes art-making, electronics, UX design, spatial design, and DJing in his mix of skills.

Join us for a presentation about the making of an LED art piece named Poly-Mer, which incorporates the Raspberry Pi computer, Arduino microcontroller, Processing language, LEDs, and up-cycled plastic contact lens trays (among other things).

Justin's presentation will also touch on various aspects of the project’s iterative development, including versioning/version control, written documentation, and visual documentation (e.g., photos, videos, and diagrams).

We're being hosted by Philosophie!

Philosophie is a digital innovation firm with offices in Los Angeles
and New York City. We help large organizations validate and develop their
promising ideas through agile design, rapid prototyping, and software
craftsmanship. Whether it’s to reduce costs, explore emerging markets, or
improve the customer experience, we apply a startup mentality and
toolset to deliver meaningful progress faster than you think is possible.

Philosophie is at the corner of 16th St & Colorado Ave in Santa Monica.

Take the Expo line to the 17th Street SMC station.

If you are driving, you may park in the Philosophie parking lot if there are any spaces available. You may also park in the Metro parking lot if you have a Metro TAP card on hand.

Or, park on the street.
