Agenda

WTD EU Prague 2016 conference highlights Brianne Hilmer from SurveyGizmo joins us remotely from Boulder, Colorado to explain how she created Just-In-Time documentation using an Agile Methodology. We'll learn about the difference between Just-In-Time documentation and Just-in-Case documentation and why it matters. Bri also shares metrics that she's captured to measure the effectiveness of her efforts. Renee Rendon, Team Lead for the Rackspace Support How-To site and her colleagues Stephanie Fillmon, and Nate Archer showcase the lightweight, custom documentation system and workflow that they use to develop and maintain how-to articles. They'll also share tips about motivating and onboarding external contributors from Support, Development, Product Management, and beyond.

About our presenters

Brianne Hlmer (https://www.linkedin.com/in/briannehillmer)is the Survey Sorceress/Documentation Coordinator at SurveyGizmo (https://www.surveygizmo.com/). An Ohioan at heart, Bri wound up in Colorado by way of DC where she honed her skills in survey sorcery redesigning a fancy gubbermint survey that collected very crucial data on very weighty things. At SurveyGizmo she continues to use her powers of sorcery for good writing how-to documentation. Find her on Google+ (https://plus.google.com/u/0/101388659019081082846/about?rel=author) and LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/in/briannehillmer) Check out her documentation at: Help (https://help.surveygizmo.com/help) and Developer Resources. Renee Rendon (https://www.linkedin.com/in/reneerendon), Information Development Team Lead, has been wrangling the Rackspace Support How-To documentation team transition from a Drupal CMS to a Jekyll-based CI/CD platform for the past 18 months and has lived to tell about it.

Nate Archer (https://www.linkedin.com/in/nathanielarcher), joined the Information Developer at Rackspace last year after graduating from the University of Texas San Antonio. His superior support Ninja skills means that he's writing lots of docs about all the things in all the places.

Stephanie Fillmon (https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephanie-fillmon-59882b72) also joined the Information Development team at Rackspace last year after completing her Masters degree at Texas A&M University in San Antonio, where she honed her writing and research skills analyzing James Bond. Great training for tracking down those elusive contributors and unearthing those slippery technical details.
