Join us for the October Write the Docs ATX Meetup!

This month, we're welcoming Sara Dubuque, a Senior Designer at Atlassian. She'll be sharing insights and learnings from LEGO.

5 things to learn from LEGO

In 2003, LEGO was near bankruptcy. The consistent growth of the company had stalled, and they were millions of dollars in debt. The years that followed involved dramatic changes in the company, the product lines, and their business strategy, and today LEGO is one of the most trusted companies in the world. How did they do it? Drawing from both business case studies and my own personal fandom, I’ll discuss 5 lessons we can learn from LEGO about product focus, experience, innovation, quality, and customer-centricity.

About our speaker

Sara is a Senior Designer at Atlassian. She's part of a team focused on integrations between our products and 3rd party tools. Her background is in evolutionary biology, education, and information science, which means that she tried a lot of things before finding a home in the tech industry as a designer. She joined Atlassian in 2014 to work on HipChat, later moved to Stride, and started working on integrations about a year ago.

About the location

Atlassian is located on the 16th floor of the Colorado building in downtown Austin. When you arrive, an Atlassian employee will greet you in the lobby and grant you elevator access to the 16th floor.

Parking is available in the building's garage for a fee, or you can use another parking garage nearby (which will likely be cheaper). Street parking is limited and usually tricky to find.
