What we're about
The Writer's Collaboration Group is a meetup dedicated to assisting impassioned writers with completing their writing projects, be it Fiction or Non-Fiction in any of it's creative forms (Script, Novel, etc). Each meetup, one person will have the floor to speak about their current writing project, which will include the plot, characters, setting and finally story theme. The rest of the members of the group will then dedicate their time and effort to assisting the Floor Writer's development of their project, be it through brainstorming or through physical writing assistance. A computer and a projector will be available to use during the duration of the meeting, along with light snacks.
Be advised, this is a group that will potentially be discussing mature themes, depending on the writer who currently has the floor.
***Meetup Rules***
Rule 1 - You must be willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement (held at the door) before being able to attend the meetup. The safety of our member's intellectual property is paramount. Furthermore, identification will need to be provided in order to verify authenticity. A copy of the non-disclosure agreement will be provided to the designated Floor Writer at the end of the day. Anyone who refuses to sign the non-disclosure agreement will not be allowed to attend the meetup.
Rule 2 - To further solidify intellectual property security, the Floor Writer has the option to make an audio recording of the entire meetup, which will also be provided to the Floor Writer at the end of the day. If you wish to attend, you must agree to this recording.
Rule 3 - The Floor Writer will rotate at the end of every week, with next week's Floor Writer added to the queue on a first come, first serve basis. Wiggle room for discussion on who will present their story next week is also welcome.
Rule 4 - Floor Writer's must fill out a form discussing their story in a short synopsis, along with themes and the maturity rating of their story ( G, PG, PG-13, R ). While the meetup is potentially mature themed, intense sexual or pornographic focused material will not be allowed. The synopsis and rating of this story will be posted on this website prior to the meetup in order to give assistant writers a heads up on the theme of this week's writing project (to which they will then have the choice to attend or not attend).
Rule 5 - Be courteous and empathetic of other people's stories. Understand that if you are the assistant writer for the week, you are here to help the Floor Writer. While we all have different writing styles and processes, try to put yourself in the mind of the Floor Writer as best you can. This is their story, not yours.
Rule 6 - The Floor Writer will be responsible for bringing in any data or physical writing material to the meeting. Any data or writing material may be recalled by the Floor Writer at the end of the meeting at their discretion.
