For the rest of the year, we follow the rules below for critiquing. Bring what you’ve been working on, and you will be given 10 mins (yes, you will be timed) to read aloud. If you want someone else to read it, that’s okay. If you want to print out sheets to be read silently, that’s okay. If you have a script, we’ll do a table read. Poetry, spoken word, short stories, novel excerpts, plays, screenplays-- all welcome within the ten minutes. We only ask that you keep in mind it will be read aloud in a Panera Bread, so use your discretion please. Also, this is a writing group, not a performance group or an open mic. We ask that you use the ten minutes to read something you would like feedback on in an effort to improve your writing. After you read, everyone else is given 2 mins to give feedback. You don’t have to give feedback. You can pass, no questions asked. Feedback should be constructive. We’re here to help each other improve. Goals! At the end of the night we share our writing goals with one another. We brag about our accomplishments, share information about workshops and submission opportunities, and encourage each other to keep doing the great work! All you need to bring is yourself and whatever you’re working on. Wi-Fi and ample power are available for laptops and your iDevice of choice. Not to mention lots of great food and cheap refills from our Panera hosts. Free parking in back.
