What we're about

Hi and welcome to our club. We have a varied program with lots to offer to active people looking for fun and friendship in the great outdoors. There is plenty to choose from with outdoor activities such as bushwalking, sailing, cycling, kayaking & snorkelling plus weekends away staying at hostels or car camping while on the social side we have restaurant nights, theatre parties, trivia nights and picnics. The club is open to everyone aged 18 and above. People looking for a full and active involvement are welcome.

We have no joining or membership fees as we receive funding from YHA in appreciation of some general maintenance work that we do at the Hawkesbury Heights (North Springwood) Hostel.

We trust that you will find something of interest and hope to see you soon.

Love and Bananas, an elephant story

Wallace Theatre

Elephant rescues in Thailand are rare, unpredictable and often life threatening. After waiting 2.5 years, actor/director Ashley Bell and a team of elephant rescuers led by world renowned Asian elephant conservationist and TIME Magazine's Hero of Asia, Lek Chailert, embark on a daring mission 480 miles across Thailand to rescue Noi Na, a 70-year old partially blind trekking elephant and bring her to freedom. African elephants are slaughtered for their ivory, but sadly the plight of the Asian Elephant has been completely overlooked even though they are the elephant we are most familiar with in zoos, circuses and elephant rides. L&B exposes the cruel secret that every Asian elephant has had to endure to become a service animal; a process knows as Pajan, aka The Crush Box. LOVE & BANANAS aims to ignite a new way of thinking about this species and shows what can be done to prevent the extinction of Asian elephants. "You don't need a bull hook to control an elephant. You can guide an elephant with love... And bananas" - Lek Chailert, Founder of Save Elephant Foundation Come along and meet Lek Chailert at this event. Lek will host an informative question and answer time following the movie. Then enjoy the opportunity to meet Lek during a relaxed meet and greet at the end of the evening. Ticket: $25 (concession - $15) You can purchase your ticket from https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/love-and-bananas-an-elephant-story-tickets-56082142197 Address: Wallace Theatre (A21).
