Session #6: Ottawa Civic Tech (Speaker Night)

We meet weekly on Tuesdays: the first night of the month kicks off with a presentation from a guest speaker and project updates/outlook for the month; the rest of the month will be focused on "hacking" (working on our projects to build civic good).

The featured presenter this month will be Ryan Androsoff (https://twitter.com/RyanAndrosoff) from the Government of Canada's Treasury Board Secretariat. Ryan will present on digital government, and run a special breakout group for further discussion.
We'll also have special guests from the Ontario Digital Government team (https://www.meetup.com/DigitalGovernment/), as part of their monthly “Office Hours” where they meet with the public and hear your thoughts on how to transform government for the digital age.

Officials from the Chief Information Officer Branch of the Government of Canada’s Treasury Board Secretariat are engaging with stakeholders across Canada on the topic of Digital Government. These discussions are an opportunity to exchange ideas and suggestions to shape a ‘made in Canada’ approach to digital government as they work to improve how digital services are delivered to citizens. The discussions will touch several major themes, including:
– Organizing to deliver digital government, and what we can learn from other jurisdictions and organizations
– Digital talent in government, and how we can bring in world-class digital expertise
– Digital service design and delivery, and how to build services from a user-centred perspective
– Setting the foundations for digital government capacity, building on the federal government’s IT Strategic Plan and Cloud Adoption Strategy
Les fonctionnaires de la Direction du dirigeant principal de l’information du Secrétariat du Conseil du Trésor du gouvernement du Canada mobilisent les principaux intervenants des quatre coins du pays sur le sujet du gouvernement numérique. Ces discussions représentent une occasion d’échanger vos idées et de faire des suggestions afin de forger une approche « fabriquée au Canada » en matière de gouvernement numérique, de même que de proposer une façon d’améliorer la prestation des services numériques à l’endroit des citoyens. Ces discussions aborderont plusieurs thèmes majeurs, y compris :
– Organisation en vue du déploiement du gouvernement numérique, et ce que nous pouvons apprendre de l’expérience acquise par d’autres organisations et administrations gouvernementales.
– Talent numérique au sein du gouvernement, et comment nous pouvons attirer des compétences spécialisées de classe mondiale.
– Conception et mise en œuvre de services numériques, et comment élaborer des services du point de vue de l’utilisateur.
– Établissement des bases adéquates pour assurer la capacité du gouvernement numérique, et comment miser sur le Plan stratégique de la technologie de l’information et sur la Stratégie d’adoption de l’informatique en nuage du gouvernement du Canada.
