Pasque Mountain / Cataract / Upper Oldman / Highway 940 West Area

Details
Description: Pasque Mountain in the soutwest corner of K Country has a lot to offer the connoiseur of ridge walks, including larches. So while fall is a good time to vist, we will be hiking in high summer because ...
Flower Note: Pasque is the northernmost limited for that gorgeous sky pilot Palemonium Viscosum. Usually it's found growing much farther south on the high ridges of Waterton Lakes National Park, where it thrives in high altitude sun and constant strong winds.
The normal route to the summit takes in the north top and the lower summit, access to open slopes made easy by a progression of old roads, some esctions reducted to trails and overgrowing after two years of disuse. Look for new cairns and flagging.
History Note: Incredibly, it was first climbed by the Boundary Survey crew n 1915, who set up camera stations on both summits and built cairns.
