Description: This long thoroughfare stretches from Pocaterra Ski Hut to Whisky Jack and connects with ten other trails, six of which branch off in the first 3.4 kilometers.
The relatively flat lower third follows winding muskeg, crossing and re-crossing the stream on bridge bridges and is generally patrolled by ski patrollers and on occasion by a Great Horned Owl defending its territory. Kananaskis group campground located near the junction with Rolly Road, offers picnic tables and a washroom for skiers, before hitting the trails.
Nowdays, the old pack trail connecting Lower Kananaskis Lake Ranger Station to the Pocaterra Tote Road in the direction of Highwood Pass is used as a link between Boulton Creek parking lot and Pocaterra Trail over 100 meters higher up the slope.
If you haven't skied this trail recently, you're in for a treat. It sill surprises with steep uphills and downhills in both directions and the flat meadows near the Pocaterra end are still uncharacteristic of the rest of it, but now the trail has been widened and the awkward bends ironed out.
