What we're about

Yakety Hack is the place to learn, improve, and challenge your cyber security skills in a fun and friendly space! Join the community of like-minded cyber security enthusiasts for events every other month and meet and network with other security professionals. All levels of experience are welcome to take part in our workshops, CTFs, and tech talks.

At these events you’ll hear short talks on topics ranging from smart contract platform vulnerabilities to game hacking. Our workshops will teach the skills hackers use to compromise various systems and what you can do to defend against them.

And, we welcome talks! Do you have a talk you'd like to present? Submit your 15-20 minute talk abstract by messaging in the group and we'll get back to you!

Join this meetup to stay up-to-date on when our next NYC Yakety Hack will be!

Who we are:
Yakety Hack: Tech Talks and Hacker Challenges is hosted by WithSecure.

Research is at the heart of everything we do. It’s why we share the latest developments and insights from our experts, and celebrate the most intriguing findings of others. We also love meeting people who are as passionate about cyber security as we are.

Talk abstract:
Our talk will focus on an introduction to security in the cloud. Paying specific attention to misconfigured applications that can allow an attacker to compromise the underlying cloud account. Additionally, we will showcase some of our recent research that has led to the development of tooling to support cloud security in the wider technical community.

CTF:
We will be presenting 3 cloud oriented CTF challenges, 2 of which will be AWS based challenges, and the third Kubernetes. These challenges demonstrate the impact of real-world misconfigurations, giving participants the chance to practice the exploitation methods for these issues helping to gain a better understanding of the underlying technologies.
