What we're about

This is a group for writers who'd like to get some motivation and make some friends! We'll primarily be focusing on getting together and writing quietly, rather than critique or workshopping.

If you like to work peacefully in cafes around Marietta or Sandy Springs, even if you're not necessarily working on writing fiction, you should come and hang out!

Wednesday Morning Write-In

Perks Coffee

Come write in! Perks Coffee is a quiet, casual coffee shop. On Wednesday morning there are usually a few students and professionals working quietly at the small tables. Bring a laptop or a notebook and write with us! Power outlets are available on the walls, but seats near them are often occupied. I'll have a power strip with me if we need it. I strongly recommend you buy something (I like the green teamonade), but even if you don't, please bring a tip for the staff. They work hard to keep this place clean and comfortable for us. Schedule: 9:45-10:00 I'll be arriving right around 9:45 to lock down a good table. Buy a drink or a snack and settle in. 10:00-11:00 Quiet time for working. Please keep discussion to a minimum, this is your time to get some writing done! The cafe does not play music, so if you need to listen to something, please bring headphones and keep it quiet enough to not disturb other writers or customers. 11:00-11:15 Wrap up. Discuss how the writing went (try to say something nice about yourself or your writing!). Stay and chat a bit, or enjoy the quiet cafe.

Monday Evening Write-In

Teamo Tea Cafe (Across from Lowe's)

Come write in! Teamo Tea Cafe is a cozy, casual boba tea and dessert spot. On Monday nights, there are usually a couple tables of young people meeting to play board games or just chat. Bring a laptop or a notebook and write with us! There are plenty of power outlets, and I'll have a power strip in case we need one. I strongly recommend you buy something (I'm partial to the red date hot drink at the moment), but even if you don't, please bring a tip for the staff. They work hard to keep this place clean and comfortable for us. Schedule: 7:45-8:00 I'll be arriving right around 7:45 to lock down a good table. Buy a drink or a snack and settle in. 8:00-9:00 Quiet time for working. Please keep discussion to a minimum, this is your time to get some writing done! The cafe plays music, but if you need to listen to something, please bring headphones and keep it quiet enough to not disturb other writers or customers. 9:00-9:15 Wrap up. Discuss how the writing went (try to say something nice about yourself or your writing!). Stay and chat a bit, or enjoy the games at the cafe. One more note about the venue: The parking lot, although it is well lit, is large and quite empty on Monday nights, and I have had strangers approach me for money here. Please be prepared for this possibility if you decide to join us.
