"May you live in interesting times." ~ Chinese Proverb
There is no doubt that we are all alive on this planet at one of the most extraordinary times in the history of humankind. And, no doubt, there will be more significant events in the near and distant future. For some, that can be an exciting prospect. For others, it can be overwhelming, painful and terribly challenging. The emotions and feelings of fear, unworthiness, loneliness and despair can often be too much to bear, and can motivate us to reach for escape and temporary relief. There is a lot of fear being highlighted in our experience at this time, but the good news is there is just as much light available -- and more! This group is being offered for those who have struggled or are currently struggling with addictions, codependency and what can lovingly be described as "negative self-talk." Many of us have heard the saying, "Life is what you make it." Maybe, after reading that adage, you look at your life and say, "I made this mess? I brought this on myself? No way!" What we are offering in this group is a different, more compassionate and healing perspective on this adage, so that you can heal yourself from thoughts, beliefs and behaviors that are causing pain and suffering in your life. Healing is more than possible -- it is inevitable if you are willing to open your heart and mind and take a little step of faith with us.
This group will combine the ancient mind-body-spirit practice of yoga, taught by Elizabeth Arrowood, who is herself in recovery, and principles of the Universal Law of Attraction, taught by Mary Jo Bull, who has been deliberately and consciously following the path of self-actualization for more than 25 years. Elizabeth is a long-time yoga practitioner and certified yoga instructor. With a Masters degree in Counseling, Elizabeth brings a most unique and compassionate perspective to this group:
"I am Elizabeth Arrowood; lover of life, counselor, yoga teacher and recovered addict of all sorts. I am so blessed to have found wonderful people and new avenues to deepen my path of self-discovery at a time in my life where I was sure I was the only one in the 12-step program feeling discontent without a clue why. I was led to the practice of yoga and the study of the Law of Attraction to take me deeper into my recovery. Yoga showed me the importance of aligning body, mind and spirit and offered a physical component to recovery that the 12 Steps alone could not offer. I also began to realize that my practice on the mat, whether it be meditation, breathing, or postures, was a reflection of myself, in many ways, off the mat. I sensed a synergistic relationship between the 12 steps and the yogic texts and practice and have enjoyed watching the two continue to compliment one another. And the only way I know how to explain the Law of Attraction and it's benefit to recovery is simply this...It is the 12 Steps on steroids. It is my desire and joy to share my journey in hopes of people coming together to further their experience in fellowship, self exploration and creating the life of their dreams. I am honored to be co-facilitating with my dear friend and mentor Mary Jo Bull, who has been studying and teaching the Law of Attraction for many years. She is very well read on the subject, insightful, and very supportive of your process. For more information about me and what I do, please visit my website at www.sourceenergyyoga.com."
Mary Jo Bull is a long-time disciple of the self-actualization path known as The Universal Law of Attraction. Mary Jo is a co-organizer of this Meetup group, and the founder and facilitator of the Washington, DC Law of Attraction Meetup group.
