What we're about

Hi there and welcome to the BDD support group of Westchester County! I am a Licensed NY State Mental Health Therapist hosting a support group for individuals suffering with Body Dysmorphic Disorder.

Part of what makes this disorder so excruciatingly difficult is the shame that's associated with the suffering. Please join in me creating a safe haven full of light and love in the form of a support group. I have attached a link which details the symptoms of BDD in case you are not quite if this group is for you. https://bdd.iocdf.org/professionals/diagnosis/

Even if you're not entirely sure, come out anyway. Your support, your spirit, your energy, and your personal experiences would mean a lot! Each and every person can and will make a difference in their own life and the life of other BDD sufferers.

The structure of this group will vary per meeting, however the overall template will include introductions, followed by the opportunity to share what brought you to this group and/or your personal experiences with BDD. There will always be open-floor time where dialogue and discussion can just flow without any specific agenda. Each week there will be a different theme. For example, we may talk about meditation as a treatment for BDD, cognitive behavioral therapy as a treatment for BDD, the relationship and overlap between eating disorders and BDD, the function of mirror checking or dermatological intrigue, etc. etc. etc. The list goes on and on about the various topics and ways that BDD affects the lives of those who struggle with it.

So come out and support us! Your light and your love is so greatly needed and appreciated.

See you soon!
