What we're about

York Bicycling is NOT a cycling club. But it IS an on-line site for local cyclists to find and organize group rides in the York County Pennsylvania and surrounding area. So there are no dues, no obligations and no boring meetings to attend! Just open group rides!

To make them easier to find, ride descriptions are found here: Ride Descriptions (https://www.meetup.com/York-Bicycling/pages/12113002/Ride_Descriptions/?fbclid=IwAR36bsMNP3r7TGvqGa_qVL79vtU38SDGyVCWitdUgoE_zoBRDaDzVl8zIgc)

This page is not affiliated with any one person, club or bike shop, though individuals, clubs and bike shops are encouraged to post rides. Our goal is that eventually all open rides in York County Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas will be posted here. This Meet-Up site is accessible to all who enjoy the social interaction of group rides and endorse the idea of "The More the Merrier" when it comes to riding bikes.

We also have a Facebook page for all of the chitter-chatter that cyclists like to engage in when they aren't cycling. Please join if Facebook is your thing by using the link on at the bottom of this home page.

Indoor/Outdoor Coffee Ride

207 Hellam St

The Coffee Ride is a social road ride that meets on Tuesday mornings.

DURING UNFAVORABLE RIDING CONDITIONS THIS RIDE WILL BE OFFERED ON ZWIFT. The group ride feature will be selected to keep everyone together. Watch for updates as decisions are made each week to determine indoor or outdoor riding.

WHEN THE WEATHER IS NICE, this ride starts and finishes at The Cycle Works. We ride 20-30 miles at a 12-14 mph average pace with moderate elevation. This no-drop “C” ride provides a friendly, mentoring atmosphere for those looking to increase their confidence on the road. Participants typically stick around and enjoy recovery drinks from The Coffee House!

The Bike Shak's Night Gravel Series - B/C+

Dallastown Middle School

The Bike Shak's winter night gravel series is back! Rides will be roughly 20-25 miles of mixed roads. Based on how these rides have gone the past couple of years, we're calling the pace to "B/C+." Expect to see an average speed of 13-14mph. This will once again be a no-drop ride, so if you decide to run up (or down) a hill, plan to wait at intersections to regroup. Start location will vary from week to week (updated by Tuesday) so we can take advantage of a variety of gravel roads around southern York county. Front and Rear lights are mandatory (it is a night ride after all). Bright/reflective clothing is encouraged. Please RSVP so if we need to cancel for weather or icy conditions you get a notification.

Zwift Friday Virtual Ride

Online event

Ride through the Winter! For Zwift Friday Virtual Rides we will ride virtually for 1 hour as a group with Discord chat. The ride will be at whatever pace you wish to ride as we'll be using the Zwift mode to "Keep Everyone Together" most of the time. This link is a Google Drive document with more details & instructions for getting setup: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DrGgms-pO-Mo2B5XVS2320hYXVe5b6i2LvLSkV62HZY/edit?usp=sharing

Joining us in chat with Discord is highly encouraged to add to the fun! Based on the first 2 events with ~7 people each, this was an entertaining event & the Discord audio chat helped the hour pass quickly. Using Discord is highly encouraged as part of the entertainment of this event, even if you are just listening. Info on setting up Discord are also in the linked document above.
