Our inspirational speaker duo, Olena Babenko and Katariina Nyberg, will hold one talk each on how Zalando is making use of artificial intelligence, such as semantic web technologies, to improve the search experience of Zalando’s customers.

Zalando reimagines the European fashion ecosystem, leveraging new business areas and exploring existing challenges between customers and every stakeholder of the fashion industry to provide a seamless user experience of our fashion platform.

Participants will be given a chance to play a fashion tag-definition simulation game that has been developed at Zalando Helsinki to introduce anyone with an interest in fashion to artificial intelligence.

Workshops

Workshop A

Olena Babenko, Full-Stack Developer and aspiring Data Scientist at Zalando, will hold a workshop on working with data for machine learning purposes: What information can we gain from it? How can we use machine learning to gain knowledge from the information? The workshop is intended for all-level participants.

Bring: your own computer. Instructions for what to install on the computer will follow.

Workshop B

Katariina Nyberg, Producer at Zalando, will hold a workshop on building an ontology and doing logical reasoning on it. She will show, how the Zalando search experience can be improved by building an explicit definition of fashion concepts. The workshop can be attended by all level participants. No tools required.
