We are excited to invite you to our remote Kotlin meetup kindly hosted by the Zalando Tech Hub in Dortmund. Kotlin is mostly known as the go-to language for Android development. But it is also great as a more convenient alternative to Java for developing backend services. We at Zalando use Kotlin in both environments and our team has been developing Kotlin backend services at the core of our platform for more than 2 years now.
Join Martin Schwitalla and Damian Lippok, who are backend developers working for Fulfillment Core at Zalando, if you are curious to learn more about how the teams at Zalando utilize Kotlin for implementing their microservices responsible for handling high load scenarios like Black Friday 2019. You will also get a chance to see a short live demo of how you can use Kotlin yourself to develop a small working backend service.
If you are a Java developer looking for alternatives to your current stack, a mobile developer with Kotlin experience, who wants to expand your horizon, or you are just curious how to set up a working microservice within minutes with Spring Boot and Kotlin, this Meetup will not disappoint you.
18:00 - How Zalando utilizes Kotlin for building microservices (Damian Lippok)
18:45 - Live coding session by creating a small microservice (Martin Schwitalla)
19:15 - Q&A
We opened the limit of participants to 250 since we are hosting this event now remote.
