Sue Schneider will guide you through this meditative drawing art form. Step-by-step, you will learn the basic process for creating a small, abstract design using repetitive pattern skills. Zentangle is easy, relaxing and stress-free; perfect for "these challenging times".
FIRST-TIMERS: If you are brand new to Zentangle, I'm happy to send you my Beginner's Guide, that will fill you in on background, basic techniques and some starter patterns. Just email me at sue.schneider.artist@gmail.com with "Beginner's Guide Request" in the subject line.
Our lesson will begin promptly at noon. The lesson will be about 75-90 minutes. Sue will demonstrate patterns and techniques for you to follow along. During the last few minutes we'll share our creations and wrap-up.
There are 2 sessions each month, on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays. Generally, the first session will be geared to traditional Zentangle, especially suited to beginners--so if you're new, you can learn the process and basic patterns. Experienced tanglers will find this useful as a refresher and fun group interaction. The second session will explore a variety of themes and topics, often with new pattern introductions and techniques beyond the basics (e.g., shading, color, non-abstract, use of tinted papers, etc.)
SUPPLIES NEEDED: Please provide a standard pencil, a fine tipped black marker, and paper on which to draw. Optional: Tortillion (blending stub), colored pencils, white and red fine tipped markers/pens.
Pen recommendations: Sakura Pigma Micron 01; Uniball Vision Micro; Sharpie Ultra Fine (look for "no-bleed" on the package, solid black barrel). Paper: We usually work on a 3.5" square paper (called a "tile"). Good quality papers that work well are Strathmore Vellum Bristol, 95# or 140# water color paper, a "Mixed Media" sketchbook, 65# card stock. In a pinch, a 4x6" blank index card will work, just cut it to 3.5" square.
Donations: Class is free, but donations are appreciated and encourage your instructor. You may put your contribution in the box near the door, usually on the table with any handouts for the class. If you prefer, use Paypal (sues1514@hotmail.com) or mail cash/check to Sue Schneider,511 Bevington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15221. Thank you for your support and encouragement. Suggested donation: $5-10 per class.
Please feel free to invite friends. They will need to sign up as Meet-up members (it's free) and RSVP to this meeting in order to get the
Zoom meeting link.
Happy tangling to all,
Sue
