Title:
KSQL - An Open Source Streaming Engine for Apache Kafka
Abstract:
The rapidly expanding world of stream processing can be daunting, with new concepts such as various types of time semantics, windowed aggregates, changelogs, and programming frameworks to master. KSQL is an open-source, Apache 2.0 licensed streaming SQL engine on top of Apache Kafka which aims to simplify all this and make stream processing available to everyone. Benefits of using KSQL include: No coding required; no additional analytics cluster needed; streams and tables as first-class constructs; access to the rich Kafka ecosystem. This session introduces the concepts and architecture of KSQL. Use cases such as Streaming ETL, Real Time Stream Monitoring or Anomaly Detection are discussed. A live demo shows how to setup and use KSQL quickly and easily on top of your Kafka ecosystem.

Second Talk:
Yves Brise & Thomas Peter
Bios:
Yves Brise works as a Principal Architect at ipt. His professional interest lies in promoting and furthering the data-driven enterprise. After receiving a PhD from ETH, he joined the private sector and has worked in large data integration and big data projects. Contact: https://www.linkedin.com/in/yvesbrise/
Thomas Peter works as a Technical Architect at Generali Switzerland. He always looks for emerging patterns that stimulate an enterprise to become more data-driven and agile. He is a long-time member of Generali’s software engineering corps. During the last year he co-led the data integration stream of the organization that builds Generali’s new integration and application platform CoPa.
Title:
Agile Data Integration How is it possible?
Abstract:
In this talk, we are going to tell you the story of building the Connection Platform (CoPa). This is an endeavor undertaken at Generali Switzerland over the course of the last year, in a collaboration with Innovation Process Technology. The goal was to design a general purpose, state of the art integration platform, which covers all integration needs of the enterprise. The central data distribution and integration layer are powered by Confluent Kafka. We will throw a spotlight on three different aspects of this platform that, all in their own right, are essential for agile data integration.
First of all, the platform is hosted on the container platform Redhat Openshift. Everything is set up in flexible Docker containers. Automated pipelines are used to build, provision and deploy everything on the platform from infrastructure to data pipeline
