In this online event we partner with Thomson Reuters Labs to talk about careers in data science and machine learning.
Our guests from Zug, London and US offices will share their journeys to give a perspective on diversity of roles and tasks at Thomson Reuters Labs - such as data scientist, machine learning and software engineer, design and innovation lead - and will hold an informal conversational session to inspire and share career stories. We will also touch on some more technical questions about their work. Bring your own questions to the live Q&A with our guests!

Meet the panelists:
Merine Thomas
Associate Architect
Thomson Reuters Labs
Merine Thomas is an Associate Architect in Thomson Reuters Labs. She has more than 15 years of experience working with research scientists and business partners to create products for Thomson Reuters using various disciplines in AI like NLP, Machine Learning, Information Extraction, Text Mining, etc. She is a published author and patent holder in the mentioned fields. She leads a team of software engineers to design, develop and operationalize research into ground breaking technology solutions for Thomson Reuters. She joined Thomson Reuters after receiving a M.S degree in Computer Science from Purdue University. Her most recent work include developing AI enabled features on Westlaw Edge including Question Answering, Litigation Analytics and Quick Check. She is also very passionate about getting young girls involved in STEM. She helps to organize, mentor and run summer day camps in STEM for middle school girls in the Twin Cities area that is sponsored by Thomson Reuters. She is an active participant of the Women in Tech and DEI forums of Thomson Reuters
Laura Skylaki
Sr. Data Scientist, PhD
Thomson Reuters Labs
Laura Skylaki is a Senior Data Scientist in Thomson Reuters Labs in Zug since 2018. She holds an MSc in Informatics and a PhD in Stem Cell Bioinformatics from the University of Edinburgh. Before joining Thomson Reuters, she was a postdoctoral fellow in ETH Zurich with expertise in bioimage analysis. In Thomson Reuters Labs, her work is focused on Machine Learning/Deep Learning projects mostly in the field of Natural Language Processing.
Myriam Hamed Torres
Innovation Lead

As Innovation Lead, Myriam brings extensive experience in managing all phases of project life cycle, from concept definition through implementation, collaborating across Thomson Reuters business segments and customers to deliver the next generation of data-driven solutions through quick, agile, and collaborative experimentation.
In addition to this, Myriam is one of the Directors of the Agile Business Consortium and founding member of the PMI UK Agile Forum. She’s an Agile coach, mentor, author, speaker and event organiser bringing people together to help them thrive in a VUCA world.

Urmi Ghosh
Software Engineer, Machine Learning

Urmi Ghosh is a Software Engineer, ML at Thomson Reuters Labs in Switzerland. She has a B.Tech in Computer Science and Masters in Computational Linguistics from IIIT, Hyderabad in India. She worked as a Software Engineer at AOL, in India prior to moving to Zurich. During her Masters, she attended, participated and published her work in various conferences and workshops for NLP and AI
