ChiPy Mentorship Finals

Details
Come join us at Braintree to learn about Mentorship Program that Chicago Python User Group has been running for more than 2 years. This evening we will have the successful graduates of the mentorship program tell us what projects they worked on and what they learned in the process. Each talk is a 7 minute lightning talk and you'll get to learn about WebDev, DataScience and a lot of Python!
We will select the best of the mentees based on their performance over the last 3 months and their lightning talk.
• The first prize is a video tutorial created by the legendary Pythonista David Beazley (http://www.dabeaz.com/) that is yet to be released to the public!
• Two of the mentees whom has been performing consistently in the Mentorship program will be rewarded with an opportunity to attend a DevDay at Braintree where they'll work with Developers at Braintree to get a feel of what it is like to build world class software.

We will cast a glance at the factors influencing corn prices. We have several points along our journey we’d like to discuss, including our use of regular expressions, choice of project, and the factors in our model, data munging and the beauty of pandas, a different approach on dictionaries, up and running with R (Python bringing it home), if our data could speak, what it would tell us!
Phonemenal: Sounding the Depths of Language by David Michaels (https://www.linkedin.com/in/vwampage)
Puns are a very human type of humor, playing off of our ability to hear multiple meanings thanks to context and sound. While this is extremely complicated there are parts of this that can very much be made programmatic.

Have you ever heard the phrase "You are what you eat"? Using the power of python, we've developed a Django web app called knowtrients.com that enables a user to better monitor the food they eat. The app allows you to log the food you eat daily, and it shows you whether you are achieving 100% of your daily recommended allowance for nutrients.
