PHP Development on Windows Subsystem For Linux (WSL) with Joe Ferguson

Details
The GPUG is excited to have Joe Ferguson speaking with us about PHP development on Windows using Windows Subsystem for Linux! Joe has recently published a book "PHP Development with Windows Subsystem for Linux" (https://www.phparch.com/books/php-development-with-windows-subsystem-for-linux-wsl/) so I think he's a great person to do this sort of thing with us.
Learn about Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) and how you can build your local PHP development environment natively on Linux running inside Windows. We'll cover what WSL is and how to install a ready-to-run Ubuntu 20.04 instance that we can customize to our own preferences. We'll cover setting up VSCode and PhpStorm with Xdebug 3 to make debugging easier and without having to fight with Vagrant virtual machines! Finally we'll go all-in on WSL and run native Linux GUI applications on Windows and talk about how to maximize your workflows with WSL1 or WSL2.
We'll also be raffling off a full one year licence to any JetBrains IDE!
