Taming Time in PHP: Best Practices and Gotchas

This month we're joined by Scott Keck-Warren, founder of UnleashedPodcasts.com and experienced speaker in the PHP community. Scott will be presenting his talk Taming Time in PHP.

Time is one of the hardest problems in software even if you're not working across time zones, formats, and legacy systems. In this talk, you’ll learn how to manage time effectively in PHP web applications, including how to handle daylight saving transitions, properly use `DateTimeImmutable`, and avoid pitfalls in date math. Whether you're maintaining a legacy system or building greenfield, this session will equip you with the tools and patterns to avoid time-related bugs and improve code reliability.

This event will take place at our Vehikl's new location. The doors will be locked, but there will be a QR code on the door that you can scan to let someone know you're there.

If this is your first time at the new location, this is the South-most building of the former RIM campus. When heading East on Labrador Drive, see the building on the right after The Timeless Material Company. The parking garage is closed, but there is parking on either side and on the roof of the garage. Once parked, you can find the entrance across from the garage. If taking the bus, your best bet is to take the 202 Express and get off at the University/Northfield Technology Park stop. From there, walk to the round about and head south into the technology park.
