This is an easy flat bike ride (approx 10 miles; optional 5 mile ride too) where we will enjoy a quaint New England coastal town by bike on a spring day. It is a loop bike trip, on roads with a big bike shoulder, traveling, partially along the intercoastal, golf courses, K. Hepburns mansion. Here is a map of the route: http://www.mapmyride.com/s/routes/view/bike-ride-map/connecticut/old-saybrook/8724900 . If you enlarge the map you will see details.

The bike ride will begin at 11:00AM and probably conclude at 2PM. We can have a potluck barbecue overlooking the beach.

The potluck beach barbeque has been updated to the same location as our starting point.

Here are the details: BACK Area of Dock and Dine Restaurant,(there is a hidden park) 145 College Street, Old Saybrook, See Sign to left of restaurant that reads: BANQUET AREA, Park there. Specifically it is to the left back of the restaurant to the far left corner facing the woods. Walk through the trail gate-- I'm sure you will see our cars there too. Call my cell if you can't find us.

(No limit on bike riders, we can divide into groups). For those who are less ambitious there is a five mile bike ride, if you prefer. Others can join the potluck after the ride if they wish. The park itself is interesting with history markers describing Old Saybrook and the New Colony of West Indies Trading owned by the Dutch, or you can walk around the shore. The potluck area is a private area in the back with benches and nice shrubs, and a seawall. There is a beach to the left that folks can journey down.

(If it helps AL-R will stick an orange stryped cone on his car roof and wear an orange hunting hat till ride time or orange hunting vest.)
