June Discussion: The Tinkers

June's discussion will focus The Tinkers by Paul Harding. Harding also wrote This Other Eden, which is my favorite book that we have read as a group. If this novel is even half as well-executed, we'll be lucky.

This debut novel won the Pulitzer prize despite its lack of status as a bestseller. Independent book stores and word-of-mouth led to this book finally getting the respect it deserved. Only 7,000 copies were in print when it won, and we can count ourselves lucky that there are now copies plentiful.
