The powerful forces that dominate the ego-driven mind must be understood if, in the moments they appear, they are to be recognised and decided against. Completion is a natural and wholly Godly urge. It is the way 'the ego' (my own wish for a separate self) takes and uses this urge that is the problem. Let me become more and more aware of my own desire and demand for specialness - from the world, and ultimately from God - and recognise more and more clearly the attack that it engenders within my perfect, sinless, beautiful and holy mind. Let us accept the true heaven of union as the answer to our desire for completion, and experience the joy that only God's own resolution can give.

"To everyone Heaven is completion. There can be no disagreement on this, because both the ego and the Holy Spirit accept it. They are, however, in complete disagreement on what completion is, and how it is accomplished. The Holy Spirit knows that completion lies first in union, and then in the extension of union. To the ego completion lies in triumph, and in the extension of the “victory” even to the final triumph over God. In this it sees the ultimate freedom of the self, for nothing would remain to interfere with the ego. This is its idea of Heaven. And therefore union, which is a condition in which the ego cannot interfere, must be hell."
