What we’re about
Welcome to 'A Home for the Holidays' where people come together to create a sense of family during the holiday season. If you enjoy eating and drinking and/or connecting and being there for others, this group provides a warm and welcoming environment for all when we need it most --over the holidays!
Our first holiday event, Thanksgiving/Friendsgiving was a success! We enjoyed a great Thanksgiving meal at the Rustic Spoon Redmill. Please click on the event to see the pictures and feedback.
Stay tuned for more holiday events to be posted soon! In December, we could meet to see and walk the lights at Norfolk Botanical Gardens. or go to Busch Gardens holiday festivites, host a holiday dinner complete with a dirty santa gift exchange. And later, with interest, we could break into smaller groups based on interest. My hope is that this will grow into something larger.
Let's spread some joy and kindness during the holiday season. Join us for a sense of belonging and companionship, because here at 'A Home for the Holidays' if you have no family, its really no problem!
A little about your hostess: I'm in my mid 50's, no kids, and grew up in a family where the holidays were HUGE! Over the last ten years, I've lost my three closest family members, and have not been able to recapture the specialness of those holidays. Yes, I have two family members in town, but my sibling travels over the holidays to see his gandchild. And his signicant other invites me to to their gatherings (bless her!) as do my friends, but I always feel like I'm crashing another family's holiday! LOL! And my nephew is newly married and spends his holidays at his new bride's family --as he should. And the rest of my very few relatives live out of town. So, for several years now, I had decided to just 'get through' the holidays. But then I wondered if anyone else was in similar shoes? Surely, I'm not the only one... So here we are!
