A Space to Write: the POWER of PLACE

Details

Join us for an inspiring, productive, and FREE livestream creative writing session on the theme of THE POWER OF PLACE.

Over this 1.5 hour writing session, we will guide you through exercises, prompts, idea-generation activities and discussions on this theme, included but not limited to:

  • Exploring how to write places that feel REAL
  • Creatively drawing from real-life memories to lend believability to places in your writing
  • Experimenting with creating weird & wonderful places of your own imagination
  • Visual prompts (i.e. writing inspired by an image) and other inspiration randomisers
  • And lots more!

These prompts are designed to get the creative juices flowing, to get you writing, and maybe even to inspire new ideas for projects that you can take forward and continue working on.

You do not need to have anything specific that you wish to work on. All prompts and exercises can be done from absolute zero. At the same time, if you do have a story (or other project) in progress, then you can also use these prompts to explore your characters and the world they inhabit.

This writing session is open to writers of all levels of experience from absolute beginner to professional. Any and all writing formats and styles welcome! Short stories, novels, scripts, poetry, creative nonfiction, literary fiction, thriller, romance, comedy, science fiction, fantasy, fairy tales, children's fiction... the possibilities are endless! We are also open to people who simply wish to explore their own creativity in a safe and structured setting.

We will be meeting on Zoom. The link is available on the event page for people who have booked. Any questions about Zoom, just ask!

Please note: this session will be RECORDED for future reposting. We will do our best to edit out any discussion and keep the recording restricted to the writing prompts, but if you definitely don't want your image or voice to appear in the recording, then it's probably best to communicate via Zoom chat.
