Discover Bristol: Coalpit Heath and the Dramway

Details

Payment is in advance for this tour. Once you have booked your place on Meet Up, Steve will be in touch about paying the walk fee to secure your place.

Get your week off to a good start with two hours of guided walking in attractive surroundings with pleasant company.

The focus is very much on getting to know your fellow walkers, fresh air and gentle exercise. Exercise, socialising and learning are three out of the five steps to mental wellbeing.

On these Discover Bristol sessions Steve shares his extensive research on the wildlife, history, geography and geology of the city. There is also plenty of time to chat about random stuff that comes up along the way.

This week we will be exploring the start of the Dramway around Coalpit Heath. The Dramway was once a railway track that took coal from the coalfields of East Bristol down to the River Avon at Keynsham.

We finish our Discover Bristol tours with refreshments at a local hostelry. This week it will be at the Ring O Bells in Coalpit Heath.

If you want to travel by bus then get the Bristol to Yate bus from the bus station. Our starting point is right by the bus stop in Coalpit Heath.

This is a great opportunity to launch your week with a bit of leg stretching and some tongue wagging along the way.

A Walk in the Past is a friendly group where regulars and newcomers are always welcome. Our aim is to combine a good walk with pleasant company in historic landscapes.

As is our custom a set of written notes will be emailed out to walkers after the walk. This will allow you to hold on to what you have picked up from our tour of Coalpit Heath and the Dramway
