A Walk in the Past is a friendly group where regulars and newcomers are always welcome. Our aim is to combine a good walk with pleasant company in historic landscapes.

It has been a couple of years since we visited the hamlets and villages of northwest Wiltshire and strolled in the pleasant countryside. Our walk today involves a brief ramble through the history of Sherston before we head out along the young River Avon is search of its source.

We will find out why the pub in Sherston is called The Rattlebone.

And, there's a JANE AUSTIN CONNECTION.

As is our custom a full set of written notes will be emailed out after the walk to help you hold on to what you have picked up from our wander through this little walked landscape.
