NEW Discover Bristol: Let's walk the River Avon Trail
Details
Steve has found a part of the City of Bristol that we have not yet walked!
Today we are going to explore the River Avon Trail from Bristol Temple Meads to Netham Lock.
Over the last three and a half years we have put on at least sixty different weekday tours across the whole of Bristol. We really know this city! But, we don't know this bit so well!
On these Discover Bristol sessions Steve shares his extensive research on the history, geography, wildlife and geology of the city. There is also plenty of time to chat about interesting finds that we discover along the way.
On our tour of we will hear how dramatic and innovative infrastructure projects in the early nineteenth century transformed the City of Bristol. We will learn more of the story of the River Avon.
As is our custom a historical travelogue style article based on Steve's extensive research notes will be sent out to participants after the event.
We take coffee at the end of our Discover Bristol walks. This time we will visit the Riverside Cafe in St Anne's.
This is a great opportunity for a bit of leg stretching and some tongue wagging along the way. Exercise, socialising and learning are three out of the five steps to mental wellbeing.
A Walk in the Past is a friendly group where regulars and newcomers are always welcome. Our aim is to combine a good walk with pleasant company in historic landscapes.
