NEW WALK: Winterbourne Winter Woodlands and a Medieval Barn

It is always good to get out for some country walking around New Year. In January 2026 we will be focussing our Sunday Countryside Walks on the landscape immediately beyond the urban hinterland of Bristol.
The village of Winterbourne is just north of the M4, but it feels really countrysidish. There is loads of history stuff, including a medieval barn that we will go check out.
In the valley of the River Frome there are plenty of wooded pathways for us to explore and an Iron Age Hillfort. There is even a Mad Hatter!
Our walk will be about five miles. You will need walking boots. We will stop along the way for a picnic lunch.
As is our custom historical research notes will be sent out to participants after the event. These will allow you to hold onto what you have learned from our walking in the Winter Woodlands on the edge of Bristol.
