Monday morning at 11:00

Over the last three years we have put on at least sixty different Monday tours across the whole of Bristol. We really know this city! To get 2026 off to a good start we will be revisiting some of our favourites. There will be lots of new research to enjoy.

On these Discover Bristol sessions Steve shares his extensive research on the history, geography, wildlife and geology of the city. There is also plenty of time to chat about interesting finds that we discover along the way.

This is a linear walk from the Arnolfini to IKEA at Eastgate. We will be following the Hidden River Frome for the first three miles of its length. Mostly the river is beneath the urban streets, but there are tantalising glances, a forbidden tunnel and some interesting things below the M32.

Our walk is totally flat and is pretty much exactly three miles long (as measured on the OS online mapping tool).

You will need to make your own way back from the finish point.

As is our custom a copy of Steve's extensive research notes will be sent out to participants after the event.

We take coffee at the end of our Discover Bristol walks. This time we will visit the IKEA Cafe.

This is a great opportunity for a bit of leg stretching and some tongue wagging along the way. Exercise, socialising and learning are three out of the five steps to mental wellbeing.

A Walk in the Past is a friendly group where regulars and newcomers are always welcome. Our aim is to combine a good walk with pleasant company in historic landscapes.
