For today's tour Steve has found somewhere that we have not visited in Bristol before!

Over the last three years we have put on eighty-six different Monday discovery tours across the whole of Bristol. We really know this city!

On these Discover Bristol sessions Steve shares his extensive research on the history, geography, wildlife and geology of the city. There is also plenty of time to chat about interesting finds that we discover along the way.

The Bristol suburb of Southmead grew up in the 1930s. On our tour we will consider the origins and evolution of Southmead Hospital. We will hear the story of the vicar who fell in Pen Park Hole.

Brentry House and Brentry Farm are of particular interest. Know Your Place Online Historical Map shows several places that might draw our attention in this area.

As is our custom a copy of Steve's extensive research notes will be sent out to participants after the event.

We take coffee at the end of our Discover Bristol walks. This time we will visit Cafe des Amis.

This is a great opportunity for a bit of leg stretching and some tongue wagging along the way. Exercise, socialising and learning are three out of the five steps to mental wellbeing.

A Walk in the Past is a friendly group where regulars and newcomers are always welcome. Our aim is to combine a good walk with pleasant company in historic landscapes.
