Story of Bristol (Monday): Georgian Clifton
Details
Continuing our chronological stroll through the Story of Bristol
A Walk in the Past is a friendly group where regulars and newcomers are always welcome. Our aim is to combine a good walk with pleasant company in historic landscapes.
During the eighteenth century anyone who was anyone moved uphill and away from the overpowering stench of Bristol dockside to the fresh air and fine views of Clifton Village.
Our historical tour begins with the Mall Gardens at the heart of Old Clifton, where we will also consider the story of The Clifton Club
We will explore the exquisite classical architecture of Royal York Crescent and The Paragon.
Goldney Hall and Bishop’s House will also feature.
Our two mile walk finishes back in Old Clifton.
A set of written notes will be emailed out to walkers after our walk. This will allow you to hold on to what you have picked up from our exploration of Georgian Clifton.
