Monday morning at 11:00

Why not join us as we continue our Story of Bath series of monthly Monday morning tours? This is a great opportunity to meet new people and get some exercise.

Having covered the origins of the City of Bath, the development of Georgian Elegance and Bath as an industrial city in the nineteenth century we are now making our way into the early twentieth century. .

We are skipping the Second World War Blitz for the moment. We will do that next April to coincide with the time of that event.

For this tour we are jumping forward to the 1960s and 1970s and exploring what Sir John Betjeman called The Sack of Bath.

During this time a great many Georgian properties were demolished: some would say needlessly.

Was this an act of vandalism or was it a genuine attempt to make the city more liveable for the many people who were living in damp and squalid conditions? Let's find out.

In total we will walk about two and a half miles around the city.

A set of written notes will be emailed out to walkers after the walk. This will allow you to hold on to what you have picked up from our exploration of Bath and the Post War Rebuild.

We take coffee together after our Monday walks.

As is our custom a set of historical research notes will be emailed out to participants after the event.

A Walk in the Past is a friendly group where regulars and newcomers are always welcome. Our aim is to combine a good walk with pleasant company in historic landscapes.
