Kristi Orcutt has enjoyed the past 20 years working as a naturalist, horticulturalist and outdoor educator at Pocahontas State Park, Rockwood Nature Center, and currently at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. Kristi has kept honeybees for 8 years, co-founded the Rockwood Park Backyard Beekeeping Association, and mentored dozens of new beekeepers in the Richmond area. Ms. Orcutt will share with us the miracle of pollinators (native and non-native honeybees) and their role in the local and global food security and how we are all beekeepers via our landscaping practices and our purchasing decisions.
