Performance Storytelling with Claire Muireann Murphy, Tim Ralphs and Nell Phoenix

Inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead, three fabulous storytellers dig deep into their potent repertoires to dance hand-in-hand with that dynamic trio of God, the Devil and Death.
Go on...

Like some exuberant autumn ritual, the Crick Crack Club’s bizarre and quirky annual celebration of the Mexican festival of the Dias de Los Muertos, has become part of the fabric of East London's cultural craziness! Tonight - under the watchful eye of a bunch of gambling skeletons - dead ancestors are honoured; the souls of the dead are tempted back into the world of the living for a bit of a party, and Death is mocked, cheated and saluted by turn.
What to expect

Expect ritual, libations, stories, and magical mayhem...

The Crick Crack Club's main-space events at Rich Mix are unique, never to be repeated happenings. Three all-star storytellers are given a theme; the space is dressed (always stylishly, often outlandishly), and the audience gathers. What happens next is stories - sometimes dark, often magical, frequently comedic, and regularly a little bit rude.
Who's involved

THE CRICK CRACK CLUB is the UK's premiere performance storytelling programmer and promoter, working with the finest performance storytellers, developing audiences, supporting artists and collaborating with venues across the UK and Europe.

NELL PHOENIX beautifully balances the comedic, the magical, and occasionally the downright rude, through an utterly engaging storytelling style. She is Artistic Director of StoryNight at Torriano, one of London’s thriving performance storytelling clubs for adults. TIM RALPHS. Teller in residence of the Word Smack Cabaret and host of Sheffield’s The Story Forge, Tim's performances merge the contemporary with the ancient with enviable integrity. His work draws on our international narrative inheritance, the ever-changing cityscape of his home, fairytale, myth, legend and downright surrealism.

CLARE MUIREANN MURPHY can’t help but make friends with her audiences… it’s just the way she is. Born in Dublin, Clare has lived in Spain, America and Galway, and currently resides in London. A dynamic and witty performer, she has performed in festivals and theatres across the world.
