Exploring diversity, social equity and accessibility in digital marketing
Details
Join us Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 12:00 noon to explore how diversity, social equity and accessibility in digital marketing can make our society more inclusive.
We welcome guest speakers from Accessibrand - Jolene MacDonald Founder and Farshid Sadatsharifi, Operations Project Manager - a company that truly believes that strength comes from adversity. So much so, they have built their business model on this belief. They describe themselves as a disability collective. All of their team have lived disability experience and are proud inclusion advocates.
Research dramatically shows that diversity, social equity, and accessibility are deeply connected. However, this is not clear to everyone. In this presentation, speakers try to show how accessible thinking and structures are essential in our society to empower people beyond the empty rhetoric. By sharing these lived experiences, they also try to promote a way of effective governance: where a new generation of accessible projects will make our society more inclusive.
As lived examples, Farshid will refer to differences of equity and accessibility between Iran (his born country) and Canada, and Jolene will address her experiences of making things accessible with the help of persons with (or affected by) disabilities.
JOLENE MACDONALD, Founder & Creative Director
Jolene is the Founder of Accessibrand™. For over a decade, she has known that people with disabilities needed a different work model to be able to give their full potential to their careers.
Accessibrand™ is based on Jolene’s 20+ years of knowledge in the graphic design and marketing industry, as well as her 17 years as a successful entrepreneur and award-winning designer, creative director and illustrator. Top that all off with her own personal disability experience, and out comes an innovative model for a design, marketing and communications agency.
FARSHID SADATSHARIFI, Operations Project Manager
Farshid is an entrepreneur, writer, project manager and unshakable optimist dedicated to ensuring that the communities he belongs to are working towards being more accessible for all.
He was born with Cerebral Palsy (CP), which has given him a lifetime living with limited mobility, but - at the same time - a dream and passion for battling the barriers of an inaccessible world. He has joined the Accessibrand™ team to help with communications, content, projects and activities.
