ABOUT THIS EVENT:
For the last meetup of 2020, we’re doubling up with 4 guest speakers, 4 meetup hosts, and 2 cities for an end-of-year collab between San Francisco and San Diego’s #a11y meetup groups!
RSVP today for a series of 4 lightning talks about accessibility (beginners welcomed)! We're excited to welcome the following topics and speakers:
• "Perceiving Meaning — accessibility at its core is about three main concepts: perceiving meaning, operating all the controls and understanding the content. Perceiving is about communicating the meaning: but where does this meaning come from when what you are talking about are user interface elements and how do you represent these within the development process?"
by Dylan Barrell (https://www.linkedin.com/in/dylanbarrell/),
Chief Technology Officer at Deque
• “ARIA Accessible Name – an introduction to how accessible name relates to ARIA specifications”
by Bryan Garaventa (https://www.linkedin.com/in/bgaraventa/),
Principal Accessibility Architect at Level Access (W3C ARIA WG; ISOC; FRSA)
• "Designing Safer Spaces — Innovating ways to scale safe spaces to learn, connect and grow, and giving voice to broader issues of justice and equality."
by Julie Morgan (https://www.linkedin.com/in/juliemofsd/),
Product Experience Lead at Qualcomm
• “iOS Assistive Technology Demos — learn how tasks can be accomplished in different ways using VoiceOver and SwitchControl”
by Moaan Ahmed (https://www.linkedin.com/in/moaan-ahmed/),

ZOOM DETAILS:
• How to participate via zoom:
The zoom URL and password will be shared with people on the confirmed RSVP list two days before the meetup and on the day of the meetup.
Check to make sure your email settings are enabled to receive "event updates from organizers" (https://www.meetup.com/account/comm/a11ySD/) in your account settings or you may not receive the message.
• How socializing in break out rooms will work:
We’ll use the zoom breakout rooms feature to give folks an opportunity to network and chat with others in smaller conversations with randomized participants (4-5 people per chat room).
Here's a help center article from Zoom on how to participate in break out rooms if they are unfamiliar to you:
https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115005769646-Participating-in-breakout-rooms?
If you do not feel comfortable making conversation with other people during this meetup, we'll pause briefly after the main talks so you can log off. Those who want to chat just stay on the zoom!
