About the speakers

Katy is a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer at the Nerdery, a custom software development company. She has been working in the realm of accessibility for almost three years, specializing in auditing existing websites for accessibility violations. She employs a mix of automation and manual testing to ensure the highest levels of compliance. Katy moved to Chicago a year ago from Minneapolis and is currently enjoying exploring the city.

Michael is part of the team at Basecamp, makers of the popular software for project management. He joined in a customer support role back in 2009 before creating the QA (Quality Assurance) group shortly thereafter. He’s since become the lead advocate for accessibility where he evaluates accessibility as part of the QA process, educates others at Basecamp on the accessible mindset, and retrofits existing features to make them accessible. He’s based in Chicago and occasionally tweets under @bergatron.
