Breaking Down Barriers: How Focusing on Usability Unlocked $1M for Affordable Housing Customers
Real estate management software should enable housing providers to secure critical funding, not block them. This lightning talk shares how fixing key usability barriers in a Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) submission feature enabled our largest customer to request $1M in subsidized funding. We'll explore the specific design challenges, the UX methodology used to solve them, and how this demonstrates that accessibility drives both business results and social impact.
Jeanmarie Levy is motivated by the opportunity to improve other’s lives through technology. She currently advocates for human-centered design in her role at Appfolio where she leads the design for a 0-1 Affordable Housing Product. Previously, Jeanmarie served for several SF-based ed-tech and civic-tech organizations like, Code For America where she led the design of an app for justice-impacted communities.
